Can I attend if I'm not an MSU student?
Yes! Hacktoberfest Meetup is open to everyone, not just MSU students. Students from other schools and members of the wider community are welcome. Complete the official MLH registration before attending.
Do I need a SpartaHack account to attend?
No. Official registration is through MLH. A SpartaHack account is optional for achievements and SpartaCoins; new public website accounts currently require a .edu email address. You can still register with MLH and attend without one.
Is this a hackathon?
No. Hacktoberfest is a community meetup with a workshop, demo-project time, questions, and networking. There are no submissions or judging.
Where do I register?
MLH manages official registration. Use the MLH registration link in this page's footer, or sign in to SpartaHack and open the MLH registration task from your meetup dashboard.
Does signing in register me with MLH?
No. You must complete the separate MLH form. After registering, choose 'Yes, I registered' in the SpartaHack popup to complete your task and earn the achievement. This confirmation is self-reported, not verified by MLH.
Will there be free Hacktoberfest swag?
Yes! We'll have free Hacktoberfest T-shirts and stickers at the meetup.
